Photographer's Note
This was taken on a recent trip to Washington DC and shows the Reflecting Pool infront of the Lincoln Memorial, taken from just outside the World War II Memorial.
This is the third time I've been into the Mall area in DC, but this is the first time I've done it during the summer and it was a beautiful warm day - but without some of the humidity that I gather builds as the summer goes on.
There was a beautiful mix of a strong blue sky and a nice collection of well spaced white clouds, which I thought worked well when looking down into the reflecting pool which is why I choose to angle the camera down and take up 2/3 of the shot with the pool itself. The upper third of the shot then uses the tree lined egdes of the pool to lead you back towards the Lincoln Memorial itself.
I didn't have my tripod with me this time, so this is taken handheld with a circular polarizer turned only slightly on to just temper the reflection ever so slightly.
I've not posted for a while and this will be the first time on the new site, so I'm off to have a bit of a play!
As always, your feedback is really appreciated so please let me know what you think.
Cheers
Simon
