Photographer's Note

Near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, in Washington, D.C., there is a bronze statue of three American nurses giving aid to a dying soldier. I've photographed it twice, more than a year apart. The first time I came upon it (this picture), someone had placed a red flower next to the nurse's hand, adding a hint of the blood that would have been there in reality.

Here's the official National Park Service website for the memorial

The only post-processing done was to sharpen the image before reducing the filesize for uploading. I did play with another version of the image for a while, completely desaturating everything except dor the flower, playing with the color of the shrubbery behind the statue, etc. I still liked this version better, although I might try some other experiments on it later. If anyone would like to have a whack at some other kinds of changes, please feel free to workshop it.
