Photographer's Note

Another in my ongoing project to visit and photograph all 50 US state capitol buildings. This series is from Little Rock, the capital city of Arkansas.

The Arkansas State Capitol was completed in 1915, replacing an older capitol nearby. It sits atop a small hill in Little Rock, not far from Central High School, which I posted from recently. As you can see from the workshop I've posted, the capitol itself isn't particularly original, looking a great deal like both the US Capitol in Washington DC and several other state capitols; white, with two wings and a standard dome. It is among the more non-descript capitols I've visited - not without its charms, but lacking anything particularly noteworthy. Still, I did find a few good opportunities for photos, including this one of the moon rising over the dome itself, in late afternoon.

I fiddled with this in B&W as well, but I think I like the color version more; I've posted the B&W to workshop, so tell me which you prefer!
