St. Mary of the Mount Church

From the station of the funicular we walked down the Grandview Avenue to St. Mary of the Mount Church, the furthest point of our walk.
It had become completely dark by the time we arrived at the illuminated church.
The church itself was closed, but the front porch was still open, which made a nice photo of the church interior possible. This is picture 2 of this series.
Picture 1 shows the glass entrance door with a image of St. Mary.
Behind the door you see the lights of Pittsburgh.
Photo 3 shows the exterior if the church.

St. Mary of the Mount Church was designed by Frederick Sauer in neo-Gothic architectural style. The Church was dedicated on December 19, 1897.

The entrance door to the church is striking lit from the inside. Excellent capture with vivid yellows and very good sharpness.

A fascinating and informative note and three fine photographs to accompany it.

The modern artwork of the glass entrance door is perfectly taken and contrasts well with the older, more traditional form of the ornate altar which you have also managed to capture perfectly in spite of what must have been very challenging lighting conditions indeed.

Hello Rob,
Three attractive photos taken under fairly difficult light conditions, as I imagine. The entrance door has a remarkable design, but I would pick #3 as my favourite photo for the warm light illuminating the exterior and the silhouettes of people gathered to watch it.

Hello Rob, the glass door with its image of Mary is beautiful, but it is the reflected slightly out of focus lights that complete the picture for me.
Best choice for your main post, the extra shots put everything into context.

Hello Rob,

The church must be very important to the people of Pittsburgh, to be so very well lit at night time! It positively glows against the night sky.
The door, with its seemingly etched Madonna, it very beautiful in an ethereal sort of way whilst the altar, surrounded by utter darkness, gives a mysterious impression.

Magnify these three images of the church of Santa Maria del Monte, but without a doubt the one that attracts our attention is the main with the drawing of the Virgin on the glass of the door, while through it we glimpse a view of the city.
