Photographer's Note
The Republican National Convention opens tomorrow in New York, officially nominating its party leader, George W Bush, to run for re-election. Democrats outnumber Republicans 5 to 1 in New York, and at least 120 thousand people peacefully marched in Manhattan today protesting W and his policies. Surprisingly adult expression on the face of this little girl face is very similar to faces of the grown-ups around her...

Exellent shot! Really well seen and composed. I can write a whole paragraph using this photo as a political analogy, but I'll save that for anther forum.

wonderful picture. Extremly precise composition, interesting BW (is it really BW ? I feel like I can see some very subtle color tones ?!?!) The expression and the arm os the girl, and the political context makes this picture a favourite. very well done.

very strong! the face and the attitude of little girl are very expressive. she seems very serious. I like the way in which it clings to the neck of her father.
the compo is successful with in the foreground the horizontal arm (like a barrier) and people behind then the sign.
congrats

Great 'photo journalist' shot, the subtle, almost non existent colour is intriguing, making you look harder to see if there are any more colours in the picture, and the wistful look on the little girl's face, it's a picture.

Great documentary shot, b&w fits perfectly, her expression is so capturing. I wish i could have been there yesterday! Regards, Djenno

This is a really good environmental shot. Great catch. To me, it looks as though it has not been completely desaturated and I wish the little bit of color didn't show through, but this is excellent all in all.

A good example on how to use a wide angel to enhance something and by that create an emotion. I like how you kept a little warm tone in the B&w, or is that just me?
I think the demonstration was a good thing too. At least it show the rest of the world that it is more than one opinion in the US.

Very nice actual shot Sergei.
I am not so sure of including small children in demos like this - but apperently this is no problem for this farther. Interesting.

youve got some of the most fabulous tones on te.
i noticed your photographs when i came across your dramy photograph with a cyclist . i saw it quite some time back, but have hardly seen you post since then so thought that you'd left te
the expression here is really unforgettable.
she seems so innocent, so out of place in this protest
this is a really pure photograph from you sergei
take care :)
p.s. you know what i think somehow the girl and the signboard saying "dissent" both give each other a lot of strength. can't explain why . but i think the photograph would be less powerful without either of them
