Photographer's Note

Depuis le sommet de l'Empire State Building, voici, dans la lumière frontale du petit matin, la partie est de la skyline de Manhattan.
Avec, sur la gauche de la photo, quelques-uns des édifices les plus marquants de la ville : le Citigroup center, Metlife building and of course Chrysler building.

From the top of the Empire State Building, here is, in the morning light, East part of Manhattan skyline.
In the left part of the picture, some of the more remarkable buildings of the city : Citigroup center, Metlife building and of course Chrysler building.

J'aime beaucoup l'ambiance de cette image ! Ce traitement sépia donne un aspect "années 40" à cette photographie ! La brume joue un rôle important dans la réussite de la prise de vue ! J'aime bien les reflets dans l'eau qui contrebalancent la partie sombre de gauche !

C'est très bien vu ces building dans la brume, on dirati presque du N&B. très beau résultat, j'aime beaucoup, de la douceur dans un environnement urbain

Salut JB,
Sur mon ecran ca ressort tres sombre et pour cette raison je me demande s'il n'aurait pas ete plus judicieux de baser la vue plus sur le Chrysler building aui est la seule silhouette que je peux identifier, d'autant que a sa gauche les silhouettes se melent en une sorte de bouillie noire.

En voyant cette vue pour le moins brumeuse, je suis content d'habiter la montagne.
L'image me fait penser à un film sur la fin du monde.
Bravo pour l'ambiance que tu as su capturer.

Excellent photo, but somehow frightening scene. City covered with very dense fog with small light coming through. I think that this photo has some symbolic meaning about what megalopolis like New York offers to his inhabitants.

Tres jolie lumiere, le noir blanc est perfait pour nous communiquer l'ambiance de cette ville. Par contre je joins Jean Yves au fait que elle est assez sombre.

Hi JB - the atmosphere is great, classic NYC! A dark, moody shot wiht a lot of contrast. You have it listed as 'colour' but to me it's a B&W image, with a tocuh of sepia.

JB bonsoir.
Une mégapole qui sort de la nuit avec encore de la brume matinale. J'aime ce passage de l'ombre à la lumière. Les reflets de l'eau font un espace de franche lumière. L'ambiance de cette photo est extraodinaire.

Excellent moment with quite typical POV of the Empire State Building. The light and shadows gives a very good mood. The light reflection in the water is right on target. A little bit more and it would be overexposed. Well managed!

pas d'accord avec le commentaire de PixelTerror : au contraire sur mon écran les dégradés sont superbes. Beaucoup de relief et une photo très agréable à regarder... J'aime beaucoup la luminosité de l'ensemble. Bravo

wow! this is original I've seen thousands of photos of this skyline but never with this look.
Love the atmosphere created by the fog, the light and silhouettes.
Very good POV plunging the view from high above to the river.

Classic and beautiful Manhattan shot - big fog, infinite silhouettes of skyscrapers. Also you composed this very well with the Chrysler building on the off-center position, and I like how the brightness progresses from a darker left to a brighter top right. Great shot!

The shot resembles an old fashioned postcard. I like the monochromatic tones, with the foggy background. The sharp spire of the tall building - I believe it is the Chrysler - really captivates the eye here. Very fine work...Demain.

Hi JB,

It’s totally in B&W and en excellent shot. Diagonally divided dark part and shining parts are creating spectacular view with silhouettes of skyscrapers. Hazy surround is creating mystic atmosphere. Congratulations.

I'm going back to New York in three weeks time, so there was no way I could resist this one.
The light is fantastic here, and you've controlled it very well. I like how the buildings are almost rendered as silhouettes, but the important details are still visible. I also like how shooting into the light has resulted in an almost monochrome image.
A hugely atmospheric shot of the ultimate urban landscape. Well done JB.

I thought this must be from an aircraft but then its the Empire State Building, the next best thing to flying above the New York skyline. Good sepia conversion.

J'adore ce genre de photo. Ces dégradés de gris à contre-jour dans la brume (smog ?) new-yorkaise sont très beaux.
