Photographer's Note
I have made this shot of Lower Manhattan skyline 1.5 years before the most well known date in the recent world history. But it could be made days, hours, minutes, and even seconds before.
Today is five years from the day when people were reminded that their seemingly inviolable world can change in a fraction of a second.
I hope ours will last...

This picture reminds us about the world most economically powerful place. Good to see this picture again while the 9/11 movie will be released soon. Good timing. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Alexander...
Good idea to post this photo for this very sad birthday (Requiescant in Pace).
I find the way you put the picture in B/W is nice and I like the frame very much. I'm more sceptic with the noise you added.
But especially your note is beautiful. I like your conclusion :
"Today is five years from the day when people were reminded that their seemingly inviolable world can change in a fraction of a second.
I hope ours will last..."
I hope too...
Have a nice day :-)

Very suitable photo for today Alexander, with a very good note I must add. I am not a great fan of these centered subject images, but I guess the towers really deserve preeminence here. Nice grainy b&w. Love the boat on the right.

Hello,
I like the texture of your photo. It brings the sense of austerity and sorrow but also some calmness.
Good idea.

A good choice for 9/11, Alexander, with this comprehensively framed photo of the WTC. The grainy and contrasted b&w treatment suits it well, and I find the small sailboat at the very right to be a pleasant inclusion. Thanks for posting this one today.

Hi Alexander,
wonderful NY skyline and good the inclusion of the sailing boat. I like the use of b/w.
Today is this strange day... I feel sorry for all those innocent people.

What with 9/11 5th anniversary I thought it would be very fitting to comment here Alex. Its a shot that takes on many extra dimensions. Like those shots of neighborhood sfrom 50 years ago which are now gone. Theres a great feeling of nostalgia in them. Obviously the circumstances here are different than natural development of an urban scape but still its there. Nostalgia, sadness....hope?

Hi ALexander!
B&W suits very good with theme shown on this photo. The skyline of NYC was amazing, although I was in this city one year after 9.11 the impression of mighty greatness is still visible there. For me the skyline of New York, looks like a gigantic decorations stolen from a theatre of Gods.
Best Regards,
Pawel

Hi Alexander,
this one has been an interesting form to remember what happened for 5 years, and it is a good tribute to the victims.
I was there a little before. In 1999, the October, 25, I was in the observatory of the South Tower, and I cannot forget those buildings.
Their spectacularity and slenderness can only be seen now through photos like yours, that in addition it has a more dramatic touch in B & W.
The frame from the Hudson gives a good image us of how it was the WTC before 11-S 2001.
Thanks to remember it to us.
Nice work.
Regards,
Josep

Thanks Alexander.
Still hitting us hard, and doesn't allow to forget.
Will we ever forget?
Strong image of a strong city, and yet so vurnable against 'unexpected'.
Once more - thanks
