Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
This New Yorker, I was very surprised to meet.
We did not meet in a recognised park but on the Esplanade on the banks of the Hudson. (In fact, if I remember rightly, there were notices asking people not to feed the squirrels!)
This just shows how very unbelievably different this city can be!
I will add a w/s, showing a memorial, close to where we met these bushy tailed residents!
Have a happy and safe day, Bev :-)

Wonderfully captured this beautiful creature, typical Ny habitant, Beverley.
I used to chase them many long minutes in Central-Park - but never had a great close-up like this picture.
Cheers,
Ike

Hi Bev,i like me too to take squirrel pics, especially when they seems friendly like this and not wild like in the park of my village. Perfect capture of this New Yorker citizen eating something, good report from this area with the imposing perspective of memorial in the WS too. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bev,
It's a very nice little creature and probably too busy with its meal to be bothered by you. You came close enough for a perfect sharpness and it's nicely placed in brown and green surroundings and no direct light.
I suppose this is an Eastern gray squirrel, also common in the UK but regarded as an invasive species in most of Europe, including Scandinavia, where it would not be welcomed.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Bev,
Incredible how speed the animals are for a little bit food.
But without food get we a nice portrait of the little rascal.
Sharp and clear photographed.
Very well done, TFS.
Kindest regards,
John

Hi Bev,
You have captured well the concentration of the animal. The point of view is showing the details of the squirrel. The light is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Beverley,
I cannot remember the memorial but I met several of these native New Yorkers in the same area as where you saw them and they weren't shy at all.
This is a beautiful and sharp capture of this lovely and cute little animal.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Beverley, a lovely portrait of the grey squirrel.
We have visits from them in our garden regularly.
They are survivors, you wouldn't expect to see them as you did.
I like the w/s shot, but want to turn it so that it loses the tilt.
I like the variety of pictures that you are sharing from this trip.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Beverley,
A good close-up photo of one of the many squirrels which can be found everywhere in New York parks. Good sharpness and a nice blurry background in combination with the soft lighting. Good job.

Hi Bev
A good pair of photos from along the Hudson. I often notice that those do not feed signs are unfortunately there to be ignored.

Hello Bev, Charming portrait of this cute animal. But I prefer the red ones. The squirrels come to my garden at home, they run around, on the trees and fences, but they are wild. On the other hand, in our parks we have many squirrels that a

Hi Bev,
I'm not at all surprised to see a New Yorker squirrel. Well captured on a shady place on a quick moment, I bet it didn't stop for long, they never do! Always fun to watch their activities.

Hi Bev
At least you didn't see a skunk like I did in the middle of urban Vancouver! But always a nice surprise to see any wildlife at all hanging on and surviving in a major metropolitan area. Even saw a hedgehog in London! Tfs!

Hi Bev.
Bravo ........ how well you have captured this squirrel, while in its little hands it has something that it is eating, it is an animal that I love, but they are difficult to be seen, at least in natural environments.
Impressive sculpture of the eagle, radiates power.
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; they are all perfectly realized factors, in this precious image.
Well done. I like very much.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Bev,
indeed they are quite popular in the UK now but I have heard these immigrants from the US have caused the natives to die out, the red native squirrels are quite rare now in the UK. In the US I also heard that there are places when the squirrels have reached an unusually high numbers and there are places where people are paid to walk around and shoot them...
I have seen one of them in my garden a lot today.
Very well captured,
M
