Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
If you come to New York, there has to be a moment when you capture a photograph of the iconic skyscrapers, and how they fight for precedence one above the next!
Check this one out in the large format!
Living, as I do, in a small, rural village, this sort of scenery is so very, very different! The tallest things around me usually are the church spire and the trees!
We went to the Top of the Rock (Rockafeller Building) to gain this city panorama, which was quite an experience in its own right, travelling up 70 floors, in a glass-topped elevator in 42 seconds!
WE spent quite a time up here, looking at the views and the people who were enjoying the same experiences as us.
Off-centre, to the right, is the Empire State Building and away in the distance is the Hudson River.
It was a scorching hot day so there was a slight heat haze but the experience was worth any sweat!!!
I have added a w/s showing a different view from the Top of the Rock.
Have a good day and stay safe, Bev :-)

Hello Beverley,
I also visited the Top of the Rock but had less clear weather then.
Later I was in south Manhattan at a sunny time and went to the 102nd floor of the One World Trade Center. Including its spire this is the tallest building in the US.
You enjoy there similar spectacular views of the metropolis.
In this photo you could also include a view of the Hudson and the East River.
I like the glimpse of the very green park that you caught at the bottom right.
Best regards, Paul

A very familiar sight, lower Manhattan from the Rock, Beverley.
Managed a clear, distinct and well lit photo.
Upon this side of the city, there few newer scrapers, looks almost as I remember the sight from the 70th.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Bev,
A beautiful classic from the Big Apple.
The nice thing about New York is that in different parts of the city there are skyscrapers with a panorama deck so that we can put both the Empire State Building and the Rockafeller Centre well above the other skyscrapers.
A beautiful picture that evokes good memories.
Excellent work
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hello Bev,
I haven't been here, but I have nice memories of standing on the viewing platform over there at the Empire State Building, where the view also wasn't so bad. Except that it wasn't such a clear and bright day. What I most clearly remember was the view of Central Park, similar to what your WS shows. But I suspect some of the most modern building at the southern end of the park didn't exist in "my days" (1989). You were lucky to have such a clear view. The slight haze is really nothing to talk about.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Bev,
The length of the city is creating depth. The point pf view is showing the details of the highrise buildings. The light is bringing out the colours. Have a nice day.

BEV
a nice classic view of the island. once I read the island was like a huge boat, central park was the center of it and the empire state was the mast. curious as NYC lost its position as a home of largest skyscrapers.. nowadays, china and arab emirates and other countries have more evidence.
take care

Hello Beverley, you were certainly at quite a height to achieve this scene. Excellent sharpness.
Looking towards the river I get a sense of the shape of Manhattan.
I like the w/s shot where we see the lovely green area that is Central Park.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hello Bev,
I was thinking WHY I've not visited New York , all this time. Most probably, I thought that city is city , like London. Or the American tourists I seen in UK, they were very loud and snobbish. But I do find out that some Americans can be very polite too, I met over here.
What a classic view of New York. Stunning. To see the Empire State Building, it has to be on the Top of the Rock. Looking at the view, making me a bit sad ( Twin Towers no longer in view ). But New York has bounced back so as the New Yorkers.
I do like the WS. A green lung of New York , an oasis of relaxation in the centre of the big city , that never sleeps.
I wonder do you have this skyscrapers scene during night time.
Wow, I checked that in the large format. Like I'm seeing through it, quite intimidating.
Thanks for sharing this Big Apple.

Hi Bev,
The Empire State Building is easy to recognize, and stands taller than others, at least on this direction. But I see there are quite a few that come pretty close! The air was surprisingly clear, so you were lucky.

Hello Beverley,
A great classic view of Manhattan. It's much better to go up Rockefeller Center instead of the Empire State Building, since the former allows you to see the latter as well. It was a beautiful clear day and you captured the many highrise buildings so well.

Dear Beverley,
A worthy continuation of your New York series portraying the city from above. Also I see the rule of the thirds to prevail. I saw the WS too, but this one is much better in my view!
Please carry on with this series! :)
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Bev, I bought a New York Pass and with it, I could go to many places without paying any more. It was a very good option, I saved quite a lot. So I was on Top of the Rock and Empire State building, and even two times, during the day and in the evening.

Fantastic view, great sharpness allows seeing many details.

Hi Bev
The distinctive Empire State Building is well placed on the vertical 1/3 axis at right. No sign of King Kong & maybe that's just as well. Good sharpness and an expansive view of Manhattan. Tfs!

Hi Bev.
Splendid panoramic looking towards the south of the island, the Empire stands out from all the others both in height, as in tradition and style, currently there are other new higher ones.
I visited the city in 2009 a year earlier.
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.
Excellent bright and sharp capture!
Well done. I like.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hi Bev,
it is a very impressive sight indeed. I have chosen the view from the empire state building but maybe being there one should see them all! There is slight haze indeed but I am still impressed with the visibility, I think we can spot the statue of liberty in the distance.
You have placed the empire state building nicely in the frame according to the rules, the effect is great.
Excellent work,
M

Hello Bev,
I love the views from Top of the Rock, and this scene looking south has many recognizable buildings in it. I've been disappointed that so many tall buildings have been built right along Central Park in recent years; the view to the park used to be wide open, but now it's blocked. Great shot. :-) Take care!

Hi Bev
did you get to see this same view at Blue Hour? its fantastic! I loved it. They always say to go to the top of the Empire State Building, but THIS view is better. Mostly because you can actually SEE the Empire State Building haha. I love Manhattan, been there twice and i'll go a third time for sure.
lovely shot, I can look at this for a long time and not get bored at all. cheers
Craig
