Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
Please open in New Tab for best effect.
Yesterday, I posted a wide view of the Rockerfeller Park, situated on the bank of the Hudson River, in Lower Manhatten, which contains many sculptures in what is called 'Real World'.
If interested, he details of the park can be found https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/North_America/United_States/photo1589554.htm. here.
This was one of the many creatures that was invented and created by American Sculptor Tom Otterness, and placed on permanent display in the park, to the delight of many interested children and adults alike.
I found this a really interesting creature to show close up. You can see, it is a creature of his imagination, possibly a cat, or a member of the cat family! When you see the w/s, you will understand its pose!
The sculptures are made of bronze and look so alive when illuminated by the sun.
I will add a w/s to show some other creatures in the park.
Have a good day, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
This makes me think of a modernized version of a gargoyle or other strange figure on a medieval cathedral. It definitely looks like some kind of cat, which also makes me think of the talking cat Behemoth of The Master and Margarita. It looks very alert, and those claws could be nasty. The WS indicates that the big bird is in danger. Children seeing this could find it scary, but it's a fascinating work and both photos are nicely bright and colourful.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley,
Marvelous close-up to the sculpture in the main post, and wider beautiful view of the park area where the different elements mounted. It could be an Otter, but also some other specie - nonethless, a fine two photos.
Good afternoon,

Hi Bev,
The tight frame is putting the sculpture in evidence. The point of view is showing the details of the big sculpture. The light is giving good colours rendering. Have a nice day.

Hello Beverly!
I like this shot because of your very well choosen POV and the quality.
A cat, maybe : the back like a turtle, the wrinkled skin like an elephant, the claws of a wildcat and mouth and nose of a teddy bear...
very well seen and managed.

Hello Beverley,
What a wonderful work of art in the shapes of this cat (or possibly a more dangerous feline, given those large and sharp claws). The patterns on the bronze look great and clear in the sun. Good depth of field also.

Hi Bev,interesting research of the details in the Rockefeller park, these statues are really weird and kitch, with imaginary animals built with different parts ... hehehe ... perfectly fits the face to face and very useful the composition in the WS with that strange bird and a piece of snake. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

bev
a curious specie of cat. I liked the way you showed the sculpture in frontal pov. this remind me a collection of cats in cali -colombia, where there is a park with many sculptures of female cats, each of different of the others..
take care

Hello Beverley,
Seeing the cat in your main picture, I had to think of the sculptures of Fernando Botero on a square in Medellin, Colombia.
Here is a general overview: https://www.trekearth.com/viewphotos.php?l=7&p=1533930
Botero's sculptures, however, are increasingly voluminous.
But I also saw a kind of playfulness in this work of art.
In the WS, the bird wants to eat the earthworm while the cat is lurking for the bird. I cannot explain what the little man is doing :)
As you write, children will also enjoy visiting this park.
PS: Thank you very much for the picture you added in the WS of my previous photo. Indeed, that one looks a lot better. I still have to try it myself.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Bev,
yes indeed the close up makes a difference!
Now, since you place everything in the context of elections in the US I wonder which candidate did you have in mind here? :)
Very cute and charming creature so I suppose it does not go with any of the old guys. :)
Very creative reportage from NYC,

Hi Bev
Missed this one. Good use of a shallow dof with superb sharpness on the face f the cat like creature. Natural looking color and effective tight framing with no wasted space. Tfs!

Hi Bev,
I like the composition here, zooming right in on the sculpture so it fills the whole photo and looks huge, but maybe not scary. Excellent sharpness and light control. The shallow depth of field blurs out the background to make the subject stand out.

Beverley, that sculpture draws the visitors' attention. Excellent close up to observe how it was designed. It ressembles a gargolye. Interesting photo note, fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
