Back in NYC

We had already been to New York City three times before, but you just can’t visit the city too many times, there is so much to see and do (including having a TE-meeting with Brenda of course!). This photo was taken on Monday morning and it was as busy as any other moment of the week. Even though we had just been to other big and crowded cities like Washington and Chicago earlier during our holiday, the chaotic traffic and all the people in Manhattan were incredibly overwhelming.

This photo was taken at Times Square, the heart of midtown Manhattan at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. I’ve already shown one picture of Times Square before, but this one was taken in the other direction. Times Square got its name in 1904, when the New York Times moved its headquarters to Longacre Square, as it was called originally. It nowadays attracts around fifty million visitors each year and is nicknamed the ”Crossroads of the World”. The square is full of brightly illuminated billboards and advertisements, including many for shows at the theatres in the surrounding Broadway Theater District.

A collection of four photos featuring the large advertisement in the background is found in the WS.
