NYC: "They Were All Yellow"

It definitely feels good to be back on TE again, so let's celebrate it with another photo from one of my two visits to North America, this time from New York City to be precise.

Anyone who has ever been to New York will surely remember the vast amount of taxicabs roaming the grand avenues of The Big Apple. Although they do come in other colours as well (so the title of this photo is somewhat incorrect, I admit..), the fleet of yellow taxis is widely regarded as one of the icons of the city.

I captured this trio in Manhattan, only a few blocks away from the Empire State Building, while in an open top tourist bus. I recall I took the photo rather quickly, because, even though there are so many of them, I didn't know if I would encounter them again in such a nice diagonal line.

For the title I was inspired by, in my humble opinion, the most beautiful love song ever written: Yellow by British alternative rock band Coldplay from their debut album Parachutes (2000). The band don't sing about New York taxicabs though, but about how the stars are all yellow and shining for this one person. :-)

Hope you like this little piece of daily life in this fascinating city, thanks for your visit!
