Photographer's Note

The predicted weather was cloudy and showers for New York City on the 9th of March 2012. I waited till afternoon and saw beautiful sunshine. I decided to take a trip to my favorite New York City with my camera. This time , I limited to only one area. Chelsea was my pick. Chelsea is a neighborhood on the west side of the borough of Manhattan in New York City.It runs from 30th to 14th street North South and 6th Avenue all the way to Hudson River East West. The neighborhood is primarily residential, with a mix of tenements, apartment blocks, city housing projects, townhouses and renovated rowhouses, and its many retail businesses reflect the ethnic and social diversity of the population. The western part of Chelsea has become a center of the New York art world, with many art galleries located in both new buildings and rehabilitated warehouses. It took me nearly 2 hours to walk from 31st street to 12th street Greenwich Avenue and back with many stops .

Bonjour Lakshmi,

Elle est rouge et prend la vedette dans ce mur de briques. Les arbres sont dénudés pour l'automne et la lumière est superbe.

This is a very nice red door well framed by the two windows. I like the symetry of your image. The empty bush tree gives a mood on intimacy. The good light brings sharpp colors.

Hello Dear Lakshmi !

The quality of the light in this photo reflects the arrival of springtime for me even though the trees in the image still have bare branches. But the shadows reflecting on the brick walls and the red door are already profusely radiating warmth of the early springtime. Your very informative note helps me to imagine the area where you have spent a good part of the afternoon yesterday. The symmetrical setup of the photo make us focus on the centrally located door. The image carries a kind of realism. The door feels as though it is about to open and the occupant of the house behind the door could appear at any moment. The warm and friendly feel, which the image carries, bring us a very uplifting feeling. This is a very lovely shot. I could imagine making a trans cultural series on the subject.

Red door contrast on an orange facade, with nakled trees barely gave shadows, Lakshmi, sure a winter scene.

the simplicity of the elements included in your framing is the reason what provides a high graphical quality to your composition, because of the red door, the front of red bricks, and the graphical effect of the symmetrical windows.
The branches of the trees in foreground increase the aesthetic interest of the ensemble.
