Manhattan Bridges Part One (1.3)
Continuing the story of the Manhattan Bridges – The Williamsburg Bridge part 3
1200 pixel Beta version

The length of the entire bridge is 2227 meter. There are 4 ways to use the bridge: walking, cycling, b y car and by metro. The first day we were in New York we walked over the bridge and took a few gigabytes of pictures.

So let’s continue with some impressions of our stroll over the bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan and look a little bit closer to the construction.

The Williamsburg Bridge is a suspension bridge but one with an unconventional type. Ad a matter of fact it is a unusual combination of a suspension bridge and partly a truss bridge. In my previous post you can see a bottom up view of one of the towers and the some of the suspension cables.
In today’s post you can the repetition of the rafters of the truss construction and at the background a tower for the suspension cables.
