Manhattan Compo

Lower Manhattan, seen from one of the many ferries to Liberty Island, Ellis Island, Governors Island and Staten Island is without doubt one of the most photographed places.
I used two buildings to create a look thought at the One World Trade Center.
In front you can see the terminal for the ferry to Governors Island.

Hello Rob,
The (almost) clear blue sky is the perfect backdrop to this Manhattan cityscape. Excellent composition and point of view looking through canyon of skyscrapers with the boats at the bottom of the frame providing scale and context. First class technical quality. An image that captures the essence of NYC.

Il ne faut pas être claustrophobe pour pouvoir vivre dans cette gratte-ciels, c'est carrément une autre vie citadine. J'ai vécu à Paris longtemps, mais là, je ne pense pas pouvoir m'acclimater.

you made an excellent selection and created a very attractive composition, isolating a part of the fascinating cityscape and framing the One World Trade Centre with other important buildings of its surroundings. The details are so clear and interesting, the colours bold and enjoyable throughout the scenery. I particularly like the quality of the reflection on the OWTC's surface. I like the way that you used the two buildings in the foreground to frame the buildings in the background. The point of view is showing the details of the highrise buildings. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

That's a wonderful and unique view of the city. The sharp clear lines emphasise the style and height of the buildings really well and the image is so crisp and sharp. I love that blue sky too

Même si il n'est pas le plus beau et original des gratte ciel dans le monde, il capte immédiatement l'attention car il est très haut et offre de beaux reflets.Ici encore, il se démarque bien.

Fabulous sight upon NYC typical architecture's, as viewed from the ferry. Neat many details and superior clarity with almost 3D effect through the buildings.
Windows cleaners/ or maybe renovating workers hanging on the sling on the brown façade.

Hallo Rob,
Vanop de ferry ontdekte je een goede doorkijk tussen de torenhoge gebouwen van Lower Manhattan.
Een prachtige opeenvolging van diverse gebouwen die onderling van kleur en van bouwstijl verschillen.
Het beeld is zeer helder en ook uiterst scherp.
Het allermooiste deel van deze foto vind ik persoonlijk het middenstuk waar meerdere gevels en hoeken van gebouwen bij elkaar komen.

We stayed in Lower Manhattan when we were in N.Y. and just loved the place and the photographic opportunities!
You have recorded so explicitly what bombards the eyes; the skyscrapers vying for supremacy, the geometric shapes, the colours, the modern materials and the reflections, all huddling close, with that N.Y friendship!
It's a very well exposed photograph, which I really enjoyed.

Dear Rob,

Excellent compilation, you show the quint essence of Manhattan. I quite surprised by the 48 mm focal length, I thought it was at least 200 or above.

Hallo Rob,
Het WTC stijgt natuurlijk boven alles uit in Lower Manhattan en weet zich hier ook mooi tussen de twee torens in de voorgrond te wurmen. De heldere dag zorgde voor een prachtig licht en rijke kleuren.
