Photographer's Note
Seen here are the ruins of Lake Luzerne's 19th dam who's water power was used in the a large leather tannery. There is also a 125 ft. brick smokestack surviving.
Most of the industries of the previous century have disappeared and the buildings which housed them have been taken down. No longer does the town profit from the tannery, the paper mill or the glove-sewing shop. There are no more grist mills, harness shops or general stores so typical of life seventy-five to one hundred years ago. Of the old industries, logging and lumbering continue as major eco assets. The town's only manufacturing activity now is a small business making animal ear tags, leg bands and veterinarian’s supplies. The Ketchum Manufacturing Company is one of the only three such firms in the United States, and its products are shipped on occasion all over the world.
The latest matter in the history of Luzerne is an act of legislature in 1963 which changed the name of the town from Luzerne to Lake Luzerne, conforming to the name of the principle village, whose name is known far and wide.

Hi Tom,
Ok, Ok, I get the point, either like it or lump it, its my blue grad and I'll use it if I want to.
Good stuff here mate, the long shadows across the snow look terrific. I like the patterns the water has formed as its flowed through the snow.
Superb composition, lovely balance in the image.
Very nice, very nice indeed.
Cheers

hi Tom
Great view of the winter that is not really just B&W as some people see it; you show a different look of winter that can be a comfort to live through, the bright light, trees, water and snow. Good shot in vertical format.

Oh, Tom, the light and shadows, here, are truly outstsanding! Just look how they define the contours of the snow and rocks.
A great pov where the eyes are easily encouraged to move deeper, and investigate the trees and the low, green building.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Tom,
A fine winter composition. I like the diagonal placement of the line of triangular stone cairns topped with snow. The sombre tones make for an interesting atmosphere and suit the subject of the disappearing industrial heritage.

de toute beauté de voir cette rivière avec ces ruines qui émergent de l'eau, bien encadré dans cette forêt et ce ciel d'un beau bleu azur, bravo mon ami.

Tom,
Great winter shot here, it makes me cold just to look at it. The zig-zag of the water leads the eye into the shot nicely creating a sense of direction. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and detail. The play of the sunlight and shadows makes for an appealing photo.

Tom,
wonderful play of patches, shadow and lights. The detail of the pilars sticking out of the water and partially covered with now makes it almost a surreal view.

Hello Tom,
This wintry scene is very attractive with dried trees, snowy ground and water between tehm, under blue sky. Long shadows on snowy surround are splendid. Sad part is loosing old production techniques and styles. Good notes too. Congratulations. Have a nice weekend.
