The Flavor of New York

I’ve got more photos from Portugal as well, but I’d like to show some more from my archives as well and feel like posting a photo from a sunny and warm summer day. I realised I’ve never posted a photo from Coney Island before, which my father and I visited during our first visit to New York back in 2013.

Coney Island is a peninsula in southwestern Brooklyn. It is best known as a seaside resort and amusement park, which opened in the mid-19th century. It is not certain where the name Coney Island comes from, but one explanation is that it was derived from the (old-)Dutch Conyne Eylandt (konijneneiland in modern Dutch), which means Rabbit Island.

Only just after posting this photo I realised it's July 4 today, which seems to be a fitting moment to return to the US.
