Photographer's Note

I'm not sure exactly when I photographed this fabulous building, but I do know it was sometime this year. Boston's Back Bay houses an incredible amount of history. Today my photograph focuses on a piece of architecture that enchants one to gazed upon it in awe, but not widely commented about.

Sometimes known as "The R2-D2 Building", 111 Huntington Ave is one of Boston's newest skyscrapers and is part of the Prudential Center complex that also houses the (Pru) Prudential Tower. Built in 2002, the tower is 554 feet (169 meters) tall and houses 36 floors.

The richly faceted glass and aluminum office tower has a distinctive radial crown gives a renewed sense of identity to the Prudential Center complex. The tower’s chiseled form has 20 corners that allow for a large number of perimeter offices.

111 Huntington is Boston's eighth-tallest building. It won the 2002 bronze Emporis Skyscraper Award.
