Photographer's Note
Nashville, September 2003: At age 71, singer Johnny Cash died today at Baptist Hospital. The medical report will say complications from diabetes resulting in respiratory failure. Friends will say he died from mourning the loss of his wife, June Carter, who passed away in May.
Not far from this spot is the Thomaston State Prison.
I hear that train a-rolling, it's a-rolling round the bend
I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when
I'm stuck in Folsom Prison and time keeps dragging on
And I hear that whistle blowing ... down to San Antone.
When I was just a baby my mamma told me: Son,
always be a good boy; don't ever play with guns.
But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die.
When I hear that train a-pulling, I hang my head and cry.
I bet there's rich folks riding, in their fancy shining cars;
They're probably drinking coffee and smoking big cigars.
But I know I had it coming, I know I can't be free;
But I keep on keep a-moving, well that's what tortures me.
If they'd free me from this prison, if that railroad train was mine;
You bet I'd move it on a little further down the line.
Far from Folsom Prison, that's where I long to stay
And I'd let that lonesome whistle ... blow my blues away.

Hi Tom,
Nice image and interesting note. Trains are something I like a lot. When I visited Poland I had one of the greatest experiences riding the older trains there. They are slower and noisy but a joy to ride. This image is very well composed. The bridge line add a more dynamic element to the composition. Good colours and sharpness as well. Thanks Tom :-)

Hello Tom,
Reflection on matte river surface is wonderful. Passing from bridge with two locomotives, rusted bridge construction are creates great view with green and sky. Congratulations.

Hello Tom,
Interesting notes which are helping to give me a greater understanding of the U.S.A.'s b/ground.
Good composition. The blue sky above, and the blue water beneath, sandwich the bridge with its speeding trains, very nicely between them. You have captured their details well and also given us an interesting muted reflection in the river.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Tom,
nice shot with the passing by train over the bridge that really whistle? The place looks tranquil and calmly but the existence of the prison make me to worry about.I like the song for the Folsom prison.

Hi Tom,
This time you have a train over there, great!
Excellent PoV showing the bridge from sunny side.
I had not heard about Maine Eastern before. Looks like a nice line for excursions on coastal landscape.

Nice one Tom, I have never had the patience to sit and wait for the train, and when I see one it is obviously too late. Color and detail are great as usual.
