Missouri River Fog

Eagle Roost Natural National Landmark
Randall Creek Recreation Area
Just downstream of the Fort Randall Dam and Lake Francis Case.

A frosty and foggy December morning on the Missouri River in South Dakota near the Nebraska border.

This is a little known place that is well worth a visit
The tall cottonwood trees and bluffs below Fort Randall Dam are a protected preserve for bald eagles .. Large numbers of eagles winter here and can typically be seen in the morning fishing over the river ..

This is one of my favorite places .. and a maddening place to be with no telephoto .. I have a bunch of images with 20 pixel eagles hunting over the river .. someday .... anyway I am going to add some distant roosting eagles into the workshop .. and keep coming here on some winter mornings with a telephoto on life's little checklist.

this is hand held at 1/40 using the self timer and a slow breath to help steady the shot ..
