Photographer's Note

Yesterday I posted a different image from this Auto Swap Meet in Eureka, Missouri. It was a little more people-oriented. Since I basically chickened out on the people shot practice, or maybe didn't have as compelling subject matter as others may, I thought I would share this unintentional artwork disguised as a pile of decrepit car parts with motorcycle garnish. It's so much easier to photograph inanimate objects, but I don't think this lady understood that she was part of the picture, even when I thanked her for the opportunity. I guess she just thought I was another goof-ball, there were sure plenty of them here. Or maybe, for the first time, she actually saw her husband's pile of junk as the work of art it really was.

Hmmm, perhaps I actually helped the guy out by showing interest in his junk other than as the normal customer trying to beat him down on his price so I can fix up my 40 thousand dollar antique truck (don't worry, honey, I won't spend anymore than 50 grand gettin' it how I want it!). Perhaps his wife now has a deeper appreciation for this stuff, these events, maybe they are a little more than just junk sales to her. What if all of a sudden his wife wanted to go to ALL the car swap meets with him... Maybe I helped him out, maybe not...
