Photographer's Note
This is another shot from my road trip to Minnesota to pick up a Munchkin cat that I had chosen to adopt. The first day wasn't too bad, but it was cold. The morning this was shot was much colder, but me and my intrepid wiener cat were undaunted. I would jump out and grab photos while she basked in the warm car. This wind farm is one of the spots we photographed before we drove into the blizzard (that's another story.) It was so cold I had ice crystals in my beard within minutes. These wind mill generators are huge. Fortunately, this truck was driving near the closer wind mill to give you a full idea of how huge they are. I counted over fifty before I got sick of sorting them out.
This farm is north of a city named Dexter south of I90.
This shot was taken with my "Texas Leica." I processed the film in Diafine. The negative was a bit thinner than I normally would like. Supposedly the red filter lowers the exposure by 3 stops, but I suspect it is 4 stops with the diafine/tri-x combo which is normally asa 1000. Then again, the snow may have been thinner due to the bluish hue that snow seems to have when in shadow. However, I like the vagueness the thinness of the film imparted blurring the line snow and desert. Let me know what you think.

Hello Hubert,
From your serie about wind farms, I prefer this one, mainly for its dramatical sky you got using red filter.
I like also the composition with the 2 first spans very well visible and isolated and the other ones in the background.
The global picture is very graphical.
Yves.

Hello Hubert! Another round of your windfarm series but it stays fascinating for me, each of them, and how the cold comes out of this photo. Lonelyness comes to my mind too, isolation maybe, space but also how we interfere with nature. What I like is the rough grain (can you say that or am I confused with the wheat belt ... ups) giving an eternity kind of feeling for me. Good, again! Have a nice day, Barbara.

Hi Hubert,
another beautiful one, excellent perspective and a great contrast in the sky..
Cheers Chris

I prefer version B to version A, since the first propeller is much more visible here. I understand fromm your note what this is a snowy pciture, but this is not very easy to tell with the B&W, it could have been desert sand (as I intially thought prior reading your note). This is probalby the risk with B&W: it is perfectly suited when contrasts and textures are clearly visible, probably a little less when color becomes necessary to make to make a differenciation between the different parts of the image.
All the best,
Emmanuel
