Photographer's Note

A Monarch butterfly coming to rest on a piece of grass at Little Sable Point Beach in Michigan. Taken with a 55-200mm telephoto lens and by running around on the beach like a madman following the butterfly with my camera to my eye. Good thing the beach wasn't crowded. There were probably 30-40 of them there that day. Windy but warm, so getting the right shot was difficult. Post processing - I cropped the photo and reduced the brightness because the sand was kind of bleached out by the sunlight shooting in automatic. this is one of 25 exposures I took trying to catch one in the air. The photos of them sitting are nice also. But the flying ones are much better
