Happy New Year

It is forbidden by the moderators to make Christmas and New Year cards by adding text to our postcards, so I searched for alternative photos to illustrate my New Year's wishes for you.

The first picture is called "HAPPY".
2019 is on the picture, which I made in the neighbourhood of Riverside Plaza in Chicago.

The second photo is the Alternative Firework.
One gun shot seems tome sufficient to usher in the new year.
I found the cannon on a window in Michigan Ave, Chicago.

The third photo represents the New Year Concert.
A tradition in many countries.
For Chicago, "Mudddy Waters" seems to me a good theme for the New Year's Concert 2019.
I made this photo on the Lower Wacker Dr.

Hello Rob,

A fine compilation of photographs revealing some details and culture of the people of the U.S.A. and interpreting them as a New Year's theme.
As always, the details are pin sharp, with an artistic twist.
I particularly love the New Year's Concert! Who couldn't be cheered by that!

Thank you for warning us of the fact that our moderators do not allow text to be added to make Christmas and New Year greetings - so I must have been very lucky one year ago to get away with posting this one!

Anyway, you've presented here three quite different yet very appropriate photographs to welcome 2019, each one clearly demonstrating your own personal and very artistic approach to photography.

It os a good way to announce the arrival of 2019. The point of view is showing the details of the sign. The light is giving good rendering of the colours. Happy New Year 2019, wishes of health, peace and prosperity.

Hello Rob,
You must have planned your TE entries well in advance, because I hardly think at least the main photo was a coincidence. It's bright and catchy enough to deserve a place here, but of course both workshop photos are more beautiful in a conventional photographic way. But they all speak well for your creativity, and I hope to see much more of that in the new year.

Hallo Rob,
Deze alternatieve nieuwjaarskaart past goed op de laatste dag van 2018 samen met het vuurwerk en de muziek uit Chicago. Het is maar goed dat de Amerikaanse straten zo lang zijn en de nummers dus hoog oplopen. Het gele stoplicht is een mooi extraatje op de achtergrond. Hier hebben we net het laatste zonlicht van 2018 in de Middellandse Zee zien verdwijnen en dan kunnen we straks iedereen 'Is-sena t-tajba' wensen.

nice of you to offer always three pictures, I appreciate it! Sometimes I prefer another than your main upload, this time I like the cannon. It is very well spotted, the clouds to replace the smoke of cannonfire, and the note is fine - me too would be gracious if the new year could be welcomed with only one shot!

Hi Rob,i think that you thought that this will be the perfect pic for today when you take that in July! The perfect way to end this year with a very curious shot. Bonjour Rob,

Toen je deze zag ging vast we een lampje branden! ;) Wat ‘n geweldige vondst!
En jij hebt het ook nog weten te “framen” zodat het een mooie “wenskaart” is geworden. Ik maak al jaren mijn kaarten van papier - ik ben een absoluut fan van papier! - soms ook gecombineerd met mijn of mijn dochters foto’s, maar ik ben gewoon jaloers op deze! :)

Dat jij en je familie een Prachtig, Vreedzaam en Gezond Nieuwjaar mogen beleven!

Hi Rob.
An original photo and very appropriate to use it to congratulate the new year, with something different from everything else, I do not know if when you saw this number on the street, you thought about the next year that would come in a few months, but it's fantastic.
The other two photos of the WS are magnificent, especially the window.
Wonderful image, sharpness, exposure, colors and POV are excellent.

Happy 2019 to you ! A bit late, but never too late ! I wish you all the best, and of course lots of wonderful photos for our pleasure :-) and great travels for your pleasure !
This is a very appealing, graphic New Year card, with the B&W 2019 sign in front of the yellow traffic lights !
As for the cannon of WS1, let’s hope it will remain silent throughout the year !
Also, I enjoyed the projection of Muddy Waters concert !
He was indeed one of the first amongst the many black musicians who put forward their community’s talents and thus participated in the slow process of anti-racism.
After reading your post, I did some research and learned that “Muddy Waters” was at the origin of the “Rolling Stones” choosing their name.
It also makes me think of the great recent film “The Green Book”, in which we see Don Shirley whose talent is appreciated by the Whites, who however continue to treat him as a kind of entertaining slave.
Nearly a century onwards, race prejudice is still very much alive unfortunately.
Well ! Let’s hope for improvement during 2019 !
