Photographer's Note

one of the most recognizable installations in Chicago is Cloud Gate, a public sculpture by British artist Anish Kapoor. because of its legume-like shape, the sculpture was immediately nicknamed "The Bean", and I can attest that the effect of 168 highly polished stainless steel plates is fascinating. people walk, run, crawl around and under it, take photos at the rate of about 50 shots per minute, admire the distorted reflections of themselves and of the city skyline, and generally are inevitably drawn to the somewhat alien structure that looks like a giant drop of quicksilver.

RAW, ISO 100, 15mm focal length, pattern metering.
