During a bike trip I make this picture, you can see the country side of Oostkerke a small village on 7 km of the North Sea.
During the two world wars, the region endured again, however hard. W. O. I spent a long occupation but fortunately little or no destruction. W. O. II and especially the period between the liberation and the eradication of the last German resistance, however, was disastrous. The whole region was again put under water, many buildings were damaged or destroyed again, human lives were sacrificed. After 1945 they started the rebuilding of churches, castles and residences.
