Photographer's Note
Nothing special. It's not a pretty landscape. The building you see is on the border between Georgia and Ossetia. I didn't travel there. There is another photo of this place in the workshop
South Ossetia officially the Republic of South Ossetia – the State of Alania, or the Tskhinvali Region, is a de facto state in the South Caucasus recognised by most countries as part of Georgia. It has a population of 53,000 people. The separatist polity, Republic of South Ossetia (or the State of Alania), is recognized as a state by Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Nauru, and Syria. While Georgia lacks control over South Ossetia, the Georgian government and most members of the United Nations consider the territory part of Georgia, whose constitution designates the area as "the former autonomous district of South Ossetia", in reference to the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast disbanded in 1990.
Georgians fighting against those controlling South Ossetia occurred on two other occasions, in 2004 and 2008. The latter conflict led to the Russo–Georgian War, during which Ossetian and Russian forces gained full de facto control of the territory of the former South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast. In the wake of the 2008 war, Georgia and a significant part of the international community consider South Ossetia to be occupied by the Russian military. South Ossetia relies heavily on military, political and financial aid from Russia.

Hello Piotr,
South Ossetia is not recognized by TE, or anyone else, so this won't get you a new country on your map. ;-) Maybe I travelled this road too, I don't remember, but I don't have any photos taken into this breakout "republic" anyway. It's a curious photo, and although the scenery is not bad, it's mainly interesting for being so rare.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Piotr,
A good overview from a well chosen higher viewpoint of this heavily disputed area. I like the yellowish tones of the fields combined with the bluish haze in the distance. Well done.

Hi Piotr,
The length of the road is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the border station. It is not to busy, have a nice day.

Good morning Piotr,
I think we do not see many pictures from this region on TE, so this is a good document show the rural area, large valley and a small number of cars, still evidence of life there.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hi Piotr
An interesting rather than spectacular post. When I was planning our aborted trip to Georgia for this year I noticed that going into Ossetia is just not on.
cheers

Hi Piotr,Georgia is a very fragmented country in which some territories are, in fact, still in full Russian control, not only Ossetia but also Abkhazia as I remember from what our guide told us. Two photos that are not spectacular not far from the city where Stalin was born, but which are important to talk about this issue that many do not know. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Czesc Piotr,
Pozdrawiam serdecznie,
M

an interesting and informative image from this part of the globe where conflicts are ever in evidence. countries with a mix of ethnic minorities are ever difficult to deal with differences. nice details of the area.

Hello Piotr,
Good to upload a shot from this rarely seen area of Europe. Excellent sharpness and natural looking colour. Looks a little like the Anatolian Plateau in east Turkey. Tfs!

Hello Piotr,
Yeah, it's not a pretty landscape but a interesting one to see/know where nobody knows about this place.
Surely I won't dare to go any further in this conflict-zone, you never know. Otherwise, they suspect I'm a spy :-)
Well, I'm glad I've seen it through the picture. The landscape is dull but the mountains view with the low clouds making it even more secretive and dangerous.
Thanks for sharing this no man's land.
Loong
