Kievan Caves Monastery captured from the cruise ship just from Dnjepr river.

At the beginning of the 11th Century founded by Yaroslav the Wise, Christian hermits are living here to be close to God. The Cave Monastery was the first and largest religious center of the Kievan Rus'. In 1688 it got the the title "Lavra". In addition, it played a prominent role in the spiritual life and in the development of Slavic culture and science. Today, the monastery has more than 70 buildings. There are two cave complexes and underground cave churches
