Photographer's Note

I call this "Underground art", not because of its odd or rebellious style, but because it is found deep down under central Stockholm.

A few weeks ago a new railway line with two new stations was inaugurated in Stockholm, taking the suburban commuter trains on their own tracks under the city, easing the congestion on the tracks for long distance trains.

One new station is located between the Metro levels under the Central station, the other under the Metro at Odenplan, about three km further north. Both stations are filled with new works of various artists. In this photo a man and his daughter are checking up something on their lap top while waiting for a train. They are sitting below an installation called Stad (City) by Peter Svedberg. It is a kind of collage of photos of people and buildings from all over Stockholm, creating a fantasy city where different districts meet side by side.

Here is a larger version.

In a workshop is a photo of the same work from another angle. Another photo shows the entrance to the other station at Odenplan.
