Photographer's Note

Hello friends and partner, today I offer you this striking building of a restaurant in the charming Alsacian village of Ribeauville, I hope you like it, then some letters about the villa.

Ribeauvillé in French language and officially, Rappschwihr in Alsatian, Rappoltsweiler in German, is a locality and French commune located in the department of Haut-Rhin, in the region of Alsace.

Its inhabitants receive in French the name of Ribeauvillois and Ribeauvilloises. It is one of the centers of wine production of the so-called Alsace Wine Route, located north of the departmental capital Colmar and 75 km south of Strasbourg.

Known in the thirteenth century as Rathaldovilare, the village passed from the bishops of Basel to the lords of Rappoltstein. The lord of Rappoltstein was the king or protector of the wandering minstrels of the land, who bought their protection through the payment of a tax.

When the family began to die out in 1673, this trade (Pfeiferkönig) was transferred to the Palatine accounts of Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld. The minstrels had a pilgrimage chapel near Rappoltsweiler, dedicated to their patron saint, Maria von Dusenbach, and here an annual party is held every September 8th. Ribeauvillé was commonly known as Rappoltsweiler until the 19th century.
