Photographer's Note

After a few odd photos I have chosen a very regular postcard. I took it from the balcony of my hotel room in the small port of Rafina (Ραφήνα), northeast of Athens.

I have travelled to the Cycladic islands several times from Rafina, which to my mind has a lot of advantages over much larger Piraeus. While there are many more destinations and more frequent departures from Piraeus, Rafina is much closer to the airport and is so small that every hotel and restaurant is within a few minutes on foot from the ferries. Rafina is also much more quiet than big and noisy Piraeus.

In the distance you can see Evvia (Εύβοια), the second largest Greek island. On the map it looks like a large peninsula, but it is really an island although connected to the mainland via two bridges.

Here is a larger version.

I will show two workshops from the quay, one of mainly blue and yellow, the other mainly red and yellow.
