Belgian Flemish pictures

This is the second picture in this nice park Sint Anna for a walk or to jogging during the morning or the evening after the work, but also for take a nice picture in the morning fog, with the jogger on the bridge of the river the Eede.

History of the small bridge about the river Eede:

The Eede or Ee was a river of Maldegem walked to the Zwin via Aardenburg, where she was discharged in at Slepeldamme. This is slightly north of the present Swing Bridge.
The name of this river was first mentioned in 1279.
The Eede was of great importance because they foresaw Aardenburg of a port and hinterland, because she was in communication with the river Lieve.
In Slepeldamme a lock where tolls were levied on behalf of the Count of Flanders. This lock was destroyed during the uprising of Coastal Flanders in 1328. The lock was restored and Eede was diked in 1337.
Slepeldamme disappeared, including the lock during the flood of 1583.
The Eede In times of war threat repeatedly dammed, namely in 1688, 1701 and 1745, but the dam was opened ever again soon.
In 1701 Menno van Coehoorn used the river to, a defense to make in connection with the War of Spanish Succession: he led the water of the Eede to get through the Elderschans and Kruisdijk Schans to the Zwin. The purpose built dam was opened only in 1719 again.
Ee was finally completed in 1813 and lost Aardenburg its port.
Now rest there is only a stream which is known mainly in Maldegem under this name Eede. The name of the village Eede NL 5 km or Maldegem also refers to that river.
