London's Iconic Bridge, a photo from London, England

Photographer's Note

Good Evening Everyone,

It is now 2012, for G.B. it is the year of The Olympic Games. I have tickets to go and see the hockey and maybe something else will become available!

In 2011, I went to London to tour the Olympic Sites but wasn't able to get as close as I wanted. So, my next best option was to post something iconic of London - Tower Bridge.

I have seen many shots of this wonderful, photogenic bridge and tried to get a completely new angle on it. Only you can decide how successful I have been.

Happy New Year Bev - An original look at this well known landmark and although quite quirky I think you have done a good job in presenting a 'new' view of the structure. I like the fact that we can see the underside and peering though see a glimpse of modern architecture. The colourful paintwork with detailed design has been really well captured. A strong bold image. First of all, A Very Happy New Year to You and Yours!

By Jove, you really have caught a completely new angle on Tower Bridge, and an angle I've never seen before!

This really looks like it should have been taken with a much shorter focal length than 18mm but your exif data tells us that it was indeed taken at that length of lens. True, there is distortion and the level of the horizon and the verticality of the bridge structures are at variance but what the heck? It's a fabulous photograph, well seen and very well taken.

Beautiful colours, excellent composition and stunning detail and sharpness.

i'm very jealous that you're going to attend some Olympic events! I was lucky enough to go see women's speed skating in Vancouver...that was fun!

its great to see the undercarriage of the long bridge deck, this is a view that we just dont get to see.
I think i could have a field day here!
as for the perspective, i can't complain because i have a similar perspective lens distortion in my last post.
I like it :)

How successful? Very successful I would say. You certainly have captured the bridge from a different perspective to the vast majority I have seen.
Strong, crisp, well saturated colours without being overdone.

For you in London, it is a year of Olympicx Games, for us in Warsaw, Euro 2012. You will have fun seeing hockey, i am vot a football fun, so will not go for the match.

Hi Bev, what a great angle on Tower Bridge, with the Mayors offices in the BG.. It looks like a nice sunny day. I happened to be down in Lopndon at the beginning of December and took the more traditional image and sadly a grey day.. Exciting about the Olympics- not often one gets to have the Olympics in ones own back yard. very exciting.. Enjoy the Hockey.. we dfo a bit of work with e GB team and they are a great bunch of guys, Have a great year and many photographic opportunities. Rich

A different and unusual angle on this iconic bridge, and a very successful one. I like how you have also managed to include the modernistic architecture in the background as well as the passing river boat. I hope the London Olympics will be a smashing success without the terrorism attacks that marred the Munich Olympics in 1972. Good dynamism here that overrides the slight disadvantage of the tilted horizon at right. Excellent sharpness, color & pov. Tfs!
