Photographer's Note

Liuzhou is a 'small' city by Chinese standards of around 1.5 million people. Previously it was heavily polluted with thick photochemical smog but air quality has improved in recent years and tourists have started to return. A lot of the old factories have closed and moved to the 6 SEZ's (Special Economic Zones) centred around Guangzhou, where they get tax breaks. Even so, the sky was still a tell tale white, and I have had to increase contrast and saturation and add a faint cyan tint to the sky to make it 'look' more normal. I never saw the 3 wheel motorised trike on the expressway when I took this. Spotted it in photoshop. If the air quality could be improved further, Liuzhou could vie with Guilin for the spectacular karst formations surrounding the city, which domestic tourists used to come to see, before the pollution got too bad.
