Photographer's Note

Leuven is a small town with a big university.

The history of the (catholic) University of Leuven goes all the way back to 1425, making it one of the oldest in the world. It is the biggest university which has Dutch as its main language.

Leuven is also famous for its beer. The Stella tradition goes back even further, to 1366.

Students and beer make a great combination, so Leuven has an even higher café per head ratio than most other Flemish towns.

This picture is a close shot of Leuven's iconic town hall. It was built in gothic style in the 15th century.
