Take me home, ferry boat - for adakapatut.

Do not underestimate what magic a free ferry service can do to the rural poor. It means convenience, shorten time to reach home, saving of fuel and expenditure. People of Sarawak wish to have modern amenities and conveniences to comfortable living, especially rural people in villages. During the peak of world oil price, fuel and food cost 4-5 times in remote areas of Sarawak above the average market consumer price. It caused severe hardship to the rural people. Since 2008, this new free ferry service is welcomed by locals in crossing the almost-1km wide Sadong River, although a bridge may materialize more than 10 years down. Besides, the sparse population and low traffic may not justify the expenditure, so the development may hold for sometime. But the ferry service is almost like a lifeline to their lives in the remote areas. Many towns of Sarawak are located next to rivers, so water transport is essential for a long time. Even Sibu was highly dependent on water transport up till today. So happiness is when ferry service is provided and running well.

I was experimenting and testing my new full-frame sensor in the D700 and the Bigma heavy lens at the river. Focus and aiming at subject by hand held is not easy to frame a subject especially if it moves fast. But what do you think of this resolution? The blur seems manageable under 1/320s.

Ever wonder why the orange is a favorite Dutch color at its Euro or Fifa football matches? Who knows the answer?
