Kiev - Freedom, hard to get without much misery and violence

The picture shows another side of the famous square Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kiev.

The building behind the canvas is the Trade Unions Building (or Budynok Profspilok).
In february 2014 it was occupied by protesters and became their political center. On the night of 18-19 February it burnt down.
Today there’s a large canvas with the words ‘Freedom is our religion’ and with a chain that is broken. On the other side of the building the same words in Ukrainian language.

I wanted to post it later but as a result of the news I saw on TV today I decided to load it up now and I dedicate the photo to all Catalans who wanted to express their opinion at the referendum.

It does not matter if the people wanted to vote for or against independence for Catalunya.
Freedom of speech is an essential value in a democracy.
Today so many peaceful citizens in Catalunya, however, were met with incredible brutality. 761 civilians have been injured.

The fact that the constitution does not allow such a referendum is simply bullshit. You cannot use violence in name of the law.

The Belgian prime minister has condemned the violence.
From the EU sounds deafening silence … once again …
Since weeks Rajoy tramples the freedom of press, assembly and expression of Catalan people and he does not feel guilty at all for the victims …

A sad day for Catalunya and for Europe.
