Kiev - Maidan, three years after the revolution

Most of you will remember the news footage of the Revolution of Dignity (also called the Euromaidan Revolution) in February 2014 in Kiev where there was a large protest camp on the square Maidan Nezalezhnosti.

Today the square looks quite different. There are many plaques to the fallen victims of the clash between protesters and police and while meanwhile the Crimea has been annexed by Russia, the battles in the east of the country continue, the Ukrainian currency has lost much in value so that life for many has taken a turn, you can say that in most places life goes more or less back to normal.

Maidan has undergone a metamorphosis.
On the hot Kiev summer nights this is a meeting place for residents and for many Ukrainians visiting the city. All buildings around the square are nicely lit and with many luminous fountains and music everywhere Maidan is the very pleasant and charming heart of the Ukrainian capital.

I stayed five nights in Kiev and every day (or night) ended on this square.

In the workshop more photos of Maidan with some showing smaller pictures referring to the revolution.
