Photographer's Note

In a true "Right place, right time" moment, I shot this picture from a ferry while crossing the Bosporus Straight on my way back to the ship I was staying on while visiting Istanbul, Turkey in August of 2011. The sunset that day was unbelievable, and was silhouetting every great piece of architecture that this famous Turkish city has to offer. I have a series of 10 or so photos of this shot, but none came out as great; they were either too tilted (I was on a rocking ferry boat!), birds compromising the solidarity of the shot, and un-even shot, too zoomed in or out, etc. But this shot came together just perfect, and is 99% raw. I pressed the 'boost color' button on iPhoto once! The sunset was just that vivid on this day.
I shoot on a very basic camera, a Nikon CoolPix L110, and am upgrading the near future!
