Photographer's Note

Just as Cars and People hanging out in the street are common photographs to capture in Havana, so are scenes like this one here.

Although I have no definitive proof to back it up, my hunch would be that locals in Havana don't have washers and dryers to clean their clothes. So you'll often see people hang them outside their windows and over their balconies to dry off in the hot sunny weather.

Combine the colorful clothes with the colorful rustic architecture and suddenly it becomes a photographers paradise :)

In various parts of the world, this activity is seen and viewed differently. For example, here in Vancouver if I hung my clothes out to dry outside MY balcony, I'm sure my neighbors would be picking up the phone to make a formal complaint! haha...But then again, if you do this in Vancouver, you'd be waiting a long time for your clothes to dry because of how much rain we get lol.

Where I grew up as a child and teenager in Eastern Canada, in Newfoundland, the idea of hanging clothes out to dry is still practiced today and is 100% accepted. Funny how its like that.

Thanks for looking, have a great TE Day.
