Photographer's Note

"Make Way for Duckings," a children's book by Robert McCloskey first published in 1941, is about a family of mallards that make their way across Boston from the Charles River to a little island in the pond in the Boston Public Garden. The book was so popular it became the official children's book for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

More than 70 years later, feeding the ducks in the park is a popular ritual with children and parents alike. I love the little girl's expression as she stares at the duck :)

Hello Kristin,
That book was probably never translated into Swedish, at least I've never heard about it. But I don't need that background to enjoy this photo anyway. There seems to be a clear communication between the little girl and the duck. It's always a joy to watch the connection between children and animals and this is a fine example. It's a well taken photo with fine colors and light in nice surroundings.

Brilliant capture! Pleasing ambience....and the three characters in the photograph is very interesting!
Tha hand of the lady, the duck staring at kid (seem confident) and kid's reaction to that with hands spread out. All are connected to each other in the moment. Bravo.. :)

Hi Kristin, I was in this park, but missed the sculpture with the
ducklings :(. Very nice scene, feeding the ducks is always a pleasure , I often do this in Warsaw. Great expression of the little girl' face. I like it! Very pleasant composition, nice colours.
