Photographer's Note

Hiking Lazar Canyon in East Serbia. The area is famous for copper and gold mines, sporting lake resorts, and breathtaking caves, but our goal was the canyon itself. It is called "the snake house" due to the, allegedly, large number of venomous "poskok" (jumping) snakes, although we met none during our hikes in and out of the canyon. The canyon abounds in wild goats. Hiking the inside of the canyon requires serious planning, but the external hike is much easier and well marked.
