Photographer's Note
Part of the Pergamon collection of Greek statues from the hilltop temple south of Bergama in western Turkey. Like the Elgin Marbles they were transported away from their original location and shipped off to the Berlin Museum. They were in the process of packing up and moving when I visited and some of the minor exhibits had already been prepared for moving to new premises. The collection should be fully restored and reopened by 2025. The Pergamon Altar is still stored away.

Bonjour Chris,
Le cadrage serré met les statues en évidence. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des statues. La lumière donne de belles teintes aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Hello Chris,
We rarely see unique antique Greek statues displayed like this. The red and blue packaging make this an original photo, and eye-catching too. I hope they reached their new destination safely. But certainly not back to Bergama?
Regards,
Gert

Hello Chris,
A very nice view of these many ancient sculpture with these bright blue and red colours around them. Unfortunately the museum was still closed this summer, but it will be a good reason to visit Berlin another time, when the museum finally reopens in a couple of years' time.

Hi Chris
It is not often that you get to see antiquities such as these getting ready for moving. I should have seen them in their new premises this year except for the small matter of COVID. Maybe 2022!
cheers

Hello Chris, I was in Pergamon in Turkey, and the altar was not there :(. An interesting picture with the sculptures packed. Where will they move to? There will be another place for the exhibits of Pergamon Museum? Yesterday, I wanted to know more and I found a very interesting virtual guided walk around the part with the Mesopotamia art. There was about Ishtar Gate. good lesson in German :).
Best regards Malgo

Hello Chris,
So much Greek art, bandaged in blue and red tapes! It almost seems cruel!
How much better if these were replicas and the originals were gracing their original temples or altars!
Still, you have captured these figures with fine clarity and explained how they came to be in this situation.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
