Photographer's Note

I am pretty sure that the merchandise on display I captured in this image does not resemble whatever people used to sell and buy in this old market square centuries ago but it still looks interesting and kind of exotic.

The man in the background, the owner of the shop, was standing by the door sipping tea but for him it was not a relaxing afternoon. The business was not going well, I suspect because the high tourist season had not yet started, and he looked a bit stressed out. Fortunately, he did not seem to mind my taking photos of the place for some 20 minutes.

In WS another glimpse at the modern face of Baku, to, once again, as in the previous two posts, show some of the big contrasts in that small country. I am convinced that trendy pizza joint with a catchy slogan (it reads in Azeri, more or less: "our pizza is as good as our ingredients") experiences no problems attracting customers.
