Photographer's Note

There are extensive ruins in the immediate area of the Paintings Group, and jungle encroachment is an omnipresent reality. I like to walk around the structures when I take photographs in an effort to present them in the most interesting manner. The side of the Temple of the Frescoes reveals a small, I would call it a doorway, except there are no doors. In the manner of the post-classic period, the jambs are built wider at the bottom than at the top, using the pillar and beam approach. The reason for this opening is not readily apparent to me, given the small size of the temple.
