Photographer's Note

The headdress is of a jaguar with the maw facing to the rear. A rich cape is suspended around the shoulders. There is a pectoral on the chest with the form of a cross. A cummerbund is wrapped around the centre of the abdomen. Decorations over the ears look like folded paper are similar to those seen at San Lorenzo and Azuzul in Veracruz. This is the lush site of La Venta on a very rainy day, and he is referred to as "the Governor".
