Photographer's Note

These two structures have been labelled as Q148 and Q150 respectively on Tatiana Proskouriakoff's definitive map of Mayapán's Site Core (AUM Carnegie Explorer Map of Mayapan, available free on the Internet). Q148 faces to the north and is located about 9 metres south of the small altar at the centre, ground level, of the Chamber with Masks (Q151). It occupies the centre of what I am calling the "southern plaza". 10 steps with side panels lead to the top of the platform where two pillars may be seen furnishing three entry points to a small chamber. A simple molding surrounds the platform. I have no idea of what the function might be for the round cylindrical structure referred to as Q150, right side of the photo. The restoration work here is relatively recent. This view is from the plaza to the northwest.
