Photographer's Note

The front of the Pyramid of the Magician faces to the west. The main staircase, as extant today, sits atop earlier versions and is extremely steep, ascending at an angle of 60. At its top sits the entry to Temple IV - an expressive Chaac mask in the Chenes style. Temple III is located immediately behind Temple IV. Each side of the staircase is flanked, from the ground up, with 12 images of Chaac, the Maya god of rain and lightning. On the left side, to the north, 6 of the images are absent.
