Photographer's Note

Just to the west of the Temple of the Large Panels and north of the Castle, the Platform of Venus demonstrates a similarity to the nearby Platform of the Eagles and Jaguars. It is both larger in size and features different iconography. Its panels show reliefs of a bundle joined to a half flower as a symbol of Venus. The braided mat related to power and the throne also appears. In the panels we recognize the effigy of Kukulkan, presented as a man emerging from the jaws of a plumed serpent with eagle's claws.
