Photographer's Note

Structure 3, also known as the Long Temple, encloses the plaza to the east. I have seen older pictures in which this was little more than rubble. A very significant effort has been made to restore it in a very careful way - a real quality job. This view is from the northeast just to the east of Structure 1. The administrative and residential areas of Aké were each surrounded by low walls. There is one stela at the site, just to the south of the plaza. I was not aware of it at the time, so I regret I cannot show a photograph. I walked from here to the entrance and arranged for Valentin to take us back to Mérida.
